motto training

FarmOur rigorous training program has attracted a client base from around the country.

The diversified specializations of Jim and Sandy are a perfect complement to the versatility of the Appaloosa.

Jim is personally involved in all roping, working cow horse, western riding, trail and reining events.  Every two year old is introduced to our training program by Jim.  His quiet demeanor and patience give the young horses a great foundation for becoming all around champions.  Often recognized as one of the last ‘true cowboys’ in the industry, Jim’s favorite quote from John Wayne, “Courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway!” does not lose authenticity.

sandy ridingSandy’s expertise shines with the English and Western performance horses and riders.  Recognized as one of the countries top youth and non-pro trainers, Sandy has had multiple World and National Champions in Hunter Under Saddle, Western and Hunter in Hand.   Her favorite quote resonates in the attitudes and performances of both the horses and riders she works with,

“Winners are not made in the show arena, they are merely recognized there”  -John Maxwell

training testimonial

Sandy and Jim have such a great work ethic.  They have a great program that really works.  I often repeat the phrase "my horses get BROKE at Jim and Sandy's barn".  I am always amazed at a show.  Between the two of them, they show in nearly every class.  It takes a well oiled machine to make that work.  I don't ever have to worry about the quality of care my horses receive at their barn.  I live over 10 hours away and am not able to see my horses very often.  I have to be able to trust my trainers.

Also, they are some of the last remaining trainers that believe in the "all-around" horse. I started out breeding halter horses and then realized that once a halter horse is finished showing...what do you do with them?  Especially if it happens to be a gelding. It broke my heart to see the "disposable" horse syndrome. For many people their show horse has to be able to perform in more than one class, therefore, as a breeder, I feel like it is important to breed for the athletic ability as well as the "pretty".
