Karen Lewis and Tommy Girl
Tommy Girl - A Declaration of Independence!
I think I’ll start this story at the “new beginning”. Tommy is retired and living the life of leisure in pasture. We are anxiously awaiting her first foal in 2008
The middle of the story happened in the winter of 2005. At the peak of Tommy’s show career, she sustained a life threatening injury.
Because of the efforts of Dr. Stones and the Kansas State Veterinary Hospital, we were able to plate and pin her back together. Recovery took about 18 months. She was a great patient, never loosing her good temperament and willingness to please.
The beginning of the story has to be Tommy’s awesome show career. At the 2004 World Show we were the World Champion in Masters NP Western Equitation and Reserve World Champions in Masters NP Pleasure and Showmanship. Some of the other highlights of her show career include High Point in the Nation in Junior Pleasure and Junior Western Riding, (both the same year), National Champion Ladies Pleasure, Reserve World Champion Ladies Masters NP Western Equitation, Reserve National Champion Masters NP Western Equitation and Reserve National Champion Masters NP Western Pleasure.
Tommy accumulated 678 points in classes including Western Pleasure, Western Riding, Trail, Showmanship, Western Equitation, English Pleasure, English Equitation, Halter, and Reining.
Tommy is sired by Invitation Only and out of the mare Zipparific.
We would like to thank everyone who kept Tommy in their thoughts and prayers. We will keep you posted on any new developments.
